Each year the needs at the Oak Park/River Forest Food Pantry increase dramatically. This has become predictable, grim news, but local Girl Scout troops help feed the increasing number of people in need every year. Your troop can help too, on Saturday, September 26, at the Girl Scout Food Drive.
There are two steps to participation:
1) Some time during the week prior to the Food Drive, schedule a troop meeting to go door to door, distributing door hanger announcements (provided by us), which ask residents to put food outside their front doors on Saturday, September 26.
2) On the day of the Food Drive, your troop will go door to door, collecting food
and then delivering it to the Oak Park Food Pantry.
To sign up, we’re trying something new this year. Go to our Vista 9 website (see directions below in blue) and download the appropriate map for your troop (North Oak Park, South Oak Park, River Forest, or Forest Park).&n bsp; Choose the numbered segment on the map that you would like to cover, and then e-mail me with your name, troop #, school, and the map segment # you prefer. I will send you a confirmation via e-mail. Also, if your troop is in grade 5 or above and would like to sort food at the pantry on the day of the Food Drive, then let me know.
Plan to attend, or send a representative, to our first Girl Scout Vista meeting on September 1 at Ascension School. There you will collect your stack of door hangers along with detailed directions about what to do. This year we have a small number of thank you door hangers to give to those who donate. If your troop would like to make personalized thank you notes, please feel free. We will no longer print thank you door hangers in order to save on our expenses.

Click on “Vista Websites”
Click on “Vista 9”
Click on “photos”
Right click on a map
Click “Save Picture As”
A pop up box should come up for you to chose where you want to save the map.
Chose a location to save the map
Go to the place that you saved the map and open it.
Whatever picture viewer you have, you should be able to play with the picture to see what area the number covers
