Recruiting New Girls and Troops

Friday, March 5, 2010 -

Evanston

There is an upcoming movie from Dreamworks called "How to Train Your Dragon." Evanston Girl Scouts have an opportunity to see a special GS preview showing at the IMAX theater in Chicago at Navy Pier for free! March 20th at 11:00 am. The preview showing promises to be an exciting, with Dreamworks and the press planning on being there for the event.

Girls who dress up as dragons might find themselves on the TV news! http://www.howtotrainyourdragon.com/ Your troop is eligible for free tickets if you do one of two things:

1) Register one new girl and one new adult; or
2) Help get a new troop started at your school. In this case, both the start-up troop and the hosting troop can get tickets, so you can use this as an incentive for the new troop. Adults need to show a clear committment of starting a troop by March 5th (for example, submit volunteer app which takes a few minutes) and girls who are going to the movie must be registered before the movie date.

Remember to invite kindergartners at your school to one of your meetings or events as a first step. We have new kindergarten troops at Willard and Oakton after two such big sister/little sister events. Your girls can earn service credit; you can give out patches to all girls as well. You design your event.

Deadline: March 5th to qualify; registrations for attendees MUST be completed before the movie. Time is running out! We have 5 Evanston troops who are eligible for tickets already. Act soon! Submit your questions and requests for tickets to me at evgs@comcast.net.

You can use the flyer above for recruiting your new girls or troops.
