Order of Business
· Presentation by Junior Achievement. – Non-profit organization with similar goals as Girl Scouts. Program is also designed to work with GS program activities and help in achieving insignia (Try-its, Badges, Interest projects). There is no cost to the troops. Kits available. Contact Samantha or Tim kits
· Investiture directed by Karen Z., Donna-Marie A, Denise U. – Ceremony information available thru various GS links or books. Dual purpose of ceremony was for investing new leaders and teaching a ceremony to those present.
· October 14, 06 LEAD – Presentation of Beaman Denoyer Awards for SU 661 Linda D and SU 665 Selena R.
VISTA HOUSEKEEPING
o Each troop folder is to be emptied out completely by either leader or representative monthly.
o Index cards will be available at each VISTA meeting so that burning question you have can be addressed at a later time. This will help expedite the meeting.
· Council Happenings – announcement that IL Crossroads Council will be merging with the other GS councils in the area. This will not affect the troops/communities/VISTAS, only at council levels. Merging of councils with allow for more opportunities and funding for programs.
· Program Boxes – Our VISTA has program boxes that are available for use (refer to Equipment Inventory on VISTA Website) to all, email VISTA manager to determine availability.
· Storage facility is located at Palmer and Algonquin Rd in Schaumburg, near Sears parts store. Please email Dawn through finance manager email what you have that needs to go into the storage unit. Items could be flags, coolers, bridges, former SU files/records (must be kept for 7 years)
· Contracts - only council representatives are allowed to sign a contract. If you do, you are liable. Contracts requires certificate of liability for insurance purposes. This is provided by Council.
· Vista webpage: presentation by Sandra R. - page is a tool for the leader to use. it will have the calendar, events (all required information and ability to download permission slips) Pictures (without names) can be used and parents can tell of the great leaders their daughters have. Council webpage has leader resources, which is updated routinely.
· Field Trip application process and procedure presentation by Lori. see attached guidelines which can be downloaded. Refer to roster for area representative.
· VISTA 6 food drive – Troops 1231,545, 3483,801, 1260, 113, 1269, 2319, 969, 798, 2006, and 536 collected 72 boxes and $280 in donations. EGV participated in Make A Difference day through Character building programs within the school district. Make A Difference Month (pink sheet) lists found pantry info for Schaumburg and Elk Grove Village. Decorated brown bags are needed and a great service project for the troops.
· Refer to Events Calendar: (available and/or in planning) ski trip, lock-in, roller skating, Chicago Wolves hockey game, circus, teen dance, tree lighting ceremonies, author at library, Nutcracker ballet at Prairie Center, Polar Express, holiday lights
· Fall product sales: 2005 = $100,000, 2006 = $110,000.
· Cookie training will be Thursday, November 30 at 7pm at St. Hubert’s. Positions needed.
· Adult training by Melody M. from council – Self-study guides are available. Evaluation/response card at back of booklet must be mailed in for training to be recorded. Leadership development pin requirements gone over, refer to sheet and webpage.
