Adult Awards & Recognitions
Do you know someone who you think is deserving of an Award or Recognition for the service that they have contributed to Girl Scouts?
There are many Girl Scout volunteers who go beyond what is expected for their position, who take that extra time and energy to help the girls, who stand out as truly an exceptional adult Girl Scout in so many ways. These volunteers may be troop leaders, school organizers, event coordinators, product sales people, troop committee member, etc. The time has come to recognize these individuals and nominate them for special awards in Service Unit 405.
Awards & Recognitions included are:
VOLUNTEER OF EXCELLENCE
SERVICE UNIT 405 HONOR ROLL
Official award forms are available on-line at council's web site.
Please submit your completed nomination and letters of endorsement to our Service Unit 405 Adult Recognition Task Force by January 4, 2013. If you have any questions regarding these awards, please contact Margaret T. (Park Ridge), SU405 Adult Recognitions Task Force Manager
Awards will be presented at our May 8, 2013 Service Unit 405 meeting.
Click on the Registration/Permission button below to download the Award Recognitions packet. Read through the criteria for each award. (Criteria for each award or recognition may be slightly different.) Contact Margaret T. (Park Ridge) before submitting your nomination form. Nomination forms, and Letters of Endorsement, when required, can then be submitted directly to council.
The Awards are:
VOLUNTEER OF EXCELLENCE: This pin replaces the Outstanding Leader and Outstanding Volunteer awards. It recognizes volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls (as troop leaders, mentor, award co-ordinator, etc) or in support of the council goals (membership, program, fund development, IT support, etc). The nominee must be a registered Girl Scout who has completed a term of service and all requirements for that service (training, etc). This award requires one letter of endorsement written by someone familiar with the service given other than the person nominating her/him.
NEWFOUND TREASURE: This award recognizes a new volunteer who has completed one year of service and has registered for a second year. She/he must be registered and trained, has "hit the ground running," and has provided outstanding service in her/his first year as troop leader or other position. This award requires one letter of endorsement written by someone familiar with the work, other than the nominator.
HIDDEN HEROINE: This pin is given to a registered adult who “embodies the Girl Scout principle to help where I am needed.” This volunteer has repeatedly been available when needed, picked up the slack, volunteered for additional service, etc.—all to provide the best possible service to the girls. This award requires one letter of endorsement by someone other than the nominating person who is familiar with the candidate’s service.
An award specific to Service Unit 405 is the SERVICE UNIT 405 HONOR ROLL. This award will be given again this year to adults who may already have received the other awards, who may not fit the criteria of the council awards, or who may have done something wonderful and unique deserving of notice. Forms for this award will be available at the January and/or February SU405 meetings.
