Meeting Agenda

1.   SIGN IN AND CHECK TROOP FOLDER

2.   OPENING FLAG CEREMONY – St. Theresa Troop 3710

** Note – sign your troop up to lead opening flag ceremonies at our meetings this year!  A sign-up sheet is posted at the check-in table, or e-mail Karen D V3_MgrUWAmb@gsvista.org.

3.   NEW BUSINESS

a.   Introduction of Ambassadors & review vacant  positions. Please contact Karen D if you are interested in taking on an Ambassador role this year. V3_MgrUWAmb@gsvista.org.

b.   Website & Roster updates – Sandy C – please take a minute to confirm your name, address, phone, and email address on the roster. My info is only as accurate as Council’s, and it appears who ever enters registrations into e-Council isn’t always checking for changes to existing information. We will once again be communicating through e-mail, and if I don’t have your e-mail address, you’ll be missing much information throughout the year. Remember, rosters are for Girl Scout business/info only! Please do not use these lists to market your home-based business or solicit donations unless it is directly Girl Scout related. Contact Sandy if you have new contact info ASAP, V3_IntComAmb@gsvista.org.

c.   Fall Products – Rachel F – COORDINATORS NEEDED! Please contact Rachel if you can help with Fall Products for your area. V3_FallPrAmb@gsvista.org.

d.   Fall Registration – Janet S –

Review of Council’s VISTA 3 registration goals. Girl registration goal is just under 2100. Currently at 580. Need to register by the end of Sept. For more help registering, contact Janet S (reg area 327) (V3_RegAmb@gsvista.org); Julie S (reg area 328) (V3_RegPart1@gsvista.org); or Renee M (reg area 329) (V3_RegPart2@gsvista.org) to get those entered as quickly as possible. 807 leader goal, currently 275. Remember Family Partnership, goal is $16,000, currently at $3,000. Last year we were nearly at 72% of Council goals, so we know we will catch up a bit once everyone is registered.

e.   Field Trip applications – Karen D – Three types of trips—within 5 miles (local), requires a phone call or e-mail (V3_MgrUWAmb@gsvista.org) to Karen with name of first aider and where you’re going. Outside 5 miles (not in tents), fill out trip application, need training dates for On The Move, Beyond the Meeting Place. Submit to Karen (e-mail V3_MgrUWAmb@gsvista.org, or fax, or drop off at home), need copy of CPR trained person’s card on file. If going on an extended overnight or tent camping or building a fire—need Camp Craft training, submit the date it was taken. (If you have Outdoor Ed, you’re trained. Just submit your completion date/copy of card.) Submit Trip Application, and if doing any special activities, suggest you purchase Supplemental Insurance which you’ll mail to council with a check. Turn in before the event, at least a few days in case of questions. First Aid must certify every 3 years, CPR must certify every year. Sue C is holding a few classes right now, see the web calendar for dates and contact info.

f.    Storage Locker updates – Karen D – located at Public Storage on Rohlwing & NW Hwy. If you need the bridge—see Sandy C (V3_IntComAmb@gsvista.org). If you can store the bridge at your home, please let Sandy know—we need a new home for it. Linda Gump has flags—does anyone want to store them? She doesn’t want them anymore. When taking out materials or visiting the storage locker, just sign in so we know you’ve been there.

g.   PADS – Anne B (V3_GirMemAmb@gsvista.org). Help support Public Action to Deliver Shelter. Provide placemats and table decorations at Christ Lutheran Church on Sunday nights from Oct through April. Scouts help setup (45 min), 10 years or older, need 2-3 adults and 5-6 girls. Older siblings welcome as well. Younger Scouts can create placemats (laminated) and centerpieces. Sign up for a month at a time. At least one adult should be there each night of the setup during the month. 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Can share with another troop for setup and decorations. Need 40 placemats laminated or 80 “disposable.” Need 5-6 centerpieces for the month.

h.   Food Drive – Gina F. (V3_GirMemPart7@gsvista.org). Event is this Saturday (9/15). Pick your area, get your tags, sign up your troop tonight. Distribute tags this week, pick up food on Saturday and deliver to Palatine Township Food Pantry by 1:30 p.m., located kitty korner from Fremd HS. Sign troop name and number of pieces brought in.

i.    Financial update – Barb B (V3_FinManAmb@gsvista.org) – Started with $0, received $2,000 advance from Council for our VISTA, $439 collected from troops, held events Lock in and Thinking Day, total income for the year $2,943. Total expenses $1358, leaving $1,585 in treasury for this year. Another advance expected from VISTA and disbanded troop income. Want to allow for new troop startup money is a future goal. Annual Finance Reports were due June 15, 2007. Please get them to Barb B, (fax) 847-255-9177. She must turn in to Hub ASAP. One partner or ambassador must be on checking account. Disbanded troops need to get funds deposited into VISTA treasury for programs. All accounts must have an Ambassador on the check signing register at the bank. All checks require 2 signatures. See Barb if you are a new troop and need help getting your checking account set up properly.

j.    Spring Camporee – Sandy C – April 4-6, 2008, at Wild Rose in Elgin. The VISTA is planning a VISTA-wide event for all Girl Scouts, Daisies on up. This Camporee will include the girls rotating through stations, playing games, learning new skills, and possibly earning portions of badges and try-its. We’re still in the planning stages, and looking for help organizing this huge event. Please see pink flyer for more information about this event, also posted on the web calendar. Our first planning meeting will be held next Monday, Sept 17, 7 p.m. here at Quest in the cafeteria. Please send me an e-mail if you are interested in helping to plan this event, V3_IntComAmb@gsvista.org.

k.   License Plates – Sandy C — On Aug 22, 2007, the Gov of Illinois signed into law the Boy Scout & Girl Scout License Plate bill. This act creates 4 license plates: Boy Scout, Eagle Scout, Girl Scout, and Gold Award. The applicant is charged $40 for the initial issuance, in addition to the appropriate registration fee. Of that $40, $25 will be issued as grants to the Girl Scouts Councils on a pro rata basis, based on the county division in which the plates are sold. This Act takes effective January 1, 2008. More information under HB3395 of the 95th General Assembly.
