FAQ’s

Question:
Thank you for the info. on the camp.  We were thinking of doing an overnight camp since we are Juniors this year.  Do you know if they would be doing a camp fire and smores?  Could we do something like that?  Could/would they allow the girls to do swaps(???) If you have a contact name/phone I could call and ask.  I guess I am looking for the “whole camp experience”…re-living my Camp Fire Girl days!!!(sorry) Anyway, any info/contact names that you may have I would appreciate.  One other question I would have is the number of people the standard cabin sleeps (since we do not have tents!!).

Answer:
This camp is really nice, but it will be only one night, and packs in the fun during Saturday. The girls will have a great time though going from activity to activity. I’ll find out about the evening campfire and smores ... I’m guessing yes, but I’ll find out for sure, and I’ll see if they want to incorporate swaps ... that’s a great idea. We are participating in this activity along with VISTA 15, so my guess is there will be many troops involved. There are various size accommodating cabins, so they will take your troop size and either fit you in your own cabin, or group you with another troop to fill the cabins. That will all get figured out at a later time. I took my toop on one of their 5-day adventures last year, and we had the best time. This will be on a smaller scale, but if this is their first time at a "camp," they’ll enjoy it, and you won’t have to do any cooking!  I guarantee they will have a great time. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Question:
I know you’d like a $10 deposit (refundable? after a certain date?), but what if I have other girls who want to sign up later? Can they be added?

Answer:
Yes, the deposit is refundable if troops change their mind and the number does not need to be exact either.  The checks should be made out to GS Service Unit 714 and it is $10 per person based on a good estimate of how many you think will attend.  Other troops can sign up later as long as we have room.

---

Question:
How big are the cabins?

Answer:
The cabins accomodate 20 girls, some are even larger and can go up to 30-40.  Depending on troop size, some troops share with others - if people want to request to share with a specific troop they can let me know that in March when we send out final registration packets.

---

Question:
How are the extra activity events filled?

Answer:
The extra activities are filled on a first come first served (with money turned in) basis, usually in mid-march I will get stuff out to all troops. You pay before it is reserved and will get a refund if we can’t accomodate (usually I can accomodate most everyone in some way shape or form).  VISTA 15 will do the assigning.

---

Question:
Can we hold a campfire at and do s’mores? How about swaps?

Answer:
Yes, there is a big campfire for all troops at night, and we do s’mores and we also do swaps.

---
Question:
What if it rains all day Saturday?

Answer:
The Camp-o-ree goes on rain or shine.

---

Question:
Are there bathrooms in all the cabins?

Answer:
There are bathrooms in some of the economy cabins and some of them have bathrooms right outside them.
