5. Council News
- Dues are now $12 per girl/adult member.
- Checks are made out to Girl Scouts of GCNWI.
- Deposit Slips, now with Chase/First Midwest. Must have troop number and signed by depositor. Please destroy all old forms and deposit slips.
- Same passwords, however the person entering must be the person designated.
- Troop numbering system is in full effect. Please use the five digit number starting with #4.
- Delegates for Council Meeting Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Do you have opinions on Girl Scout USA, come and voice out! We need 200 delegates, currently we have 60. Leaders or girls, must be 14 years or older. Deadline is now April 24. Go to www.girlscoutsgcnwi.org . Click the button marked "FOR VOLUNTEERS" Under the drop down button, choose, "GET INVOLVED WITH COUNCIL GOVERANCE".

We need more troops to take on this project. Basically, your troop prepares a basket with things like lotions, shampoos and conditioners, shower or bath gel, manicure items, maybe some fuzzy socks to be given to the Moms from the poorest families in Vernon Township. In the past, some troops have included a gift card to a beauty salon, but that is totally optional. The baskets need to be delivered to the Vernon Township Office by your troop before Mother's Day.
7. Free Camp for 9-12 Graders (application deadline extended to April 24). Interviews will be conducted April 13-May 1, 2009. Chosen participants will be notified by May 8, 2009. www.girlscoutsgcnwi.

12. Swap Sharing - SWAPS are similar to friendship pins in which girls make and then trade with each other to promote friendship (pins are then placed on the left side of vest). When girls swap their pins, they make new friends, and that is what girl scouting is all about!
13. Adult Recognition Awards: If you haven't checked the list, please let us know. Five and ten year pins will be distributed. Includes Leaders and Cookie moms! The Girl Scouts of GCNWI will be celebrating the achievements of our valuable volunteers. Volunteers will be honored for their years of volunteer service, as well as GSUSA recognition awards. Saturday, April 25, 2009: White Eagle Banquets, 6839 N Milwaukee Ave., Niles, IL. Cost: $25.00 - Luncheon.

15. Troop Bank Accounts (Disbanding) - Cindy K. Don't let the money sit! If your troop is not continuing next you will need to do the following:

17. Trip Bits - Come share your troop outing!
- Great suggestions for outings: CPK in Arlington Heights, YMCA Scuba Diving, Elk Grove Village Indoor Park-affordable skating, Sailing at Lake Arlington through the Arlington Park District, Stevenson HS Band Rehearsal, The Grove, Buffalo Grove Park District, and Canoeing in Libertyville.
- The Score in Arlington Heights is closing, if you did not hear from them your time has cancelled.
- Twin Grove is doing a Day Camp. Might be opening for Vista Cliebl1@aol.com after April 24. June 15 to 19, 9am to 4pm each day. Camp Algonquin-Log cabin, turn butter, and so much more. $110 per girl. K through 8.
- High School Musical tickets were available for pick up at the meeting.
- Come to the Last Meeting Tuesday, May 12 from 7 pm - 9 pm. The meetings are now informative, fun, and also a great way to get together and share our ideas. We had over 50 troop leaders at the last meeting!
