JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT:Bobbi Selvik (bselvik@jachicago.org) - FREE programs available from JA for K-12 that teach basic concepts of business & economics through stories, interactive exercises, etc. All materials provided. Programs consist of 5 units/program @ 45 mins/unit. Upon completion, will receive certificate and free patch. Use JA activities toward Try-it/Badge requirements. GSICC NEWS: Kay Monroe (kmonroe@ilcrossroads.org) - Council Realignment will probably not happen in the near future. It is recommended that you do go ahead and purchase Council ID sets with the expectation that if a merger does occur, Council will supply replacements (“they always have in the past” per Kay). Business should continue as usual at the troop level . . . building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place!

LEO: Norene Buchner - Leader Enrichment Overnight April 4-6, 2008 Camp Lake, WI: Is an awesome annual retreat organized for all leaders within our council. It is a opportunity to learn new ideas, bond with other leaders, “make new friends”, and rejuvenate your “leader spirit”!! . . . Oprah always recommends retreats as a way to strengthen and refresh J Veterans of these retreats highly recommend it. More information will be coming shortly-save the date!!
PRODUCT SALES: Laurie Haas/ Kay Monroe - Rosters were made available at the meeting listing all personnel involved in product sales in each community. These rosters will be useful in coordinating efforts between communities as it pertains to site sales, product distribution, etc. NOTE: Vernon/Lincolnshire are still in need of a Community Partner for cookie sales. (Fall Product: Sales - Oct 12–28 Delivery – Nov 16–Dec 2 ) (Cookie Program: Sales - Jan 4-27, 2008 Delivery – Begins Feb 16)
PROGRAMS: - 5 New STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) program boxes will be made available in our storage shed. A current inventory list of available resources in the storage shed is on the VISTA 2 website under “Leader Resources” - “Program Equip/Library Material List”. We will be verifying the inventory and making the storage shed access information available to all leaders in a separate document along with check out procedures.
LEADER/DAUGHTER EVENT: - We would like to get a committee together to organize a VISTA–wide Leader/Daughter event for the spring. We currently have a few people who have stepped forward to help, but would need a few more. In addition, we would like to survey our girls to find out what they would like to do with their moms. Please contact Kay if you would be willing to help with any of these tasks.
TIDBITS: Anytime you leave the meeting location that is listed on your Troop Summary information (your normal meeting location), you need to e-mail a trip notice to Kay Monroe (kmonroe@ilcrossroads.org) which includes Troop #, leader name, date & time & destination. You will also need a permission slip (See Panarama & Sept meeting summary for further information on permission slip requirements)
NOVEMBER MEETING: - We will be breaking out into Daisy, Brownie, Junior and Cadet/Senior round tables at our next meeting. Please plan on bringing any activity ideas or items that you did with your group that you would be willing to share with others. As I’m sure we have all heard this . . . . “We’re all in this together . . .” J
