Deadline to apply to become a District Delegate

On behalf of the democratic process task group:
Dear girl and adult members age 14 to 100,
We need more delegates to represent our north suburban area to Council!
The deadline for Intent to Run forms has been extended until October 15, 2010!!
Please market the opportunity in your SUVA community for girls and adults to be district delegates and alternate delegates. Delegate requirements are that she/he is (or becomes) a registered Girl Scout member and that she/he is age 14 or older. The responsibilities of a delegate/alternate delegate include:
- Attend council and district meetings, including the Annual Council Meeting (approximately three meetings a year). Delegates have voting privileges; alternates do not have voting privileges unless slotted into a district delegate position.
- Make recommendations on behalf of the district to the board and/or other committees on proposed plans, policies, and other matters of concern through the district chair and democratic process task group.
- Communicate to the district about actions taken by the board and the council on such plans, policies, and other matters of concern.
- Delegates serve for a term of two (2) years or until a successor is elected and assumes office. The next election period is October-November 2010. Terms of office begin immediately following the delegate's election. There are no limits on the number of terms a delegate may serve. Delegates and alternates elected before November 22, 2010, will serve until September 2012, at which time they are eligible for re-election.
An Intent to Run form (attached) has been issued for those interested in a delegate/alternate delegate position. Information about this volunteer opportunity was included in the recent issue of our council's e-newsletter, CONNECT. In the near future, the Intent to Run form will be available by accessing our council's Web site at www.girlscoutsgcnwi.org. Completed Intent to Run forms are due by October 15, 2010.
