Dozin' with the Dinos

Friday, February 6, 2009 - 5:45 pm
Saturday, February 7, 2009 - 9 am

Field Museum of Chicago, 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605, (312) 922-9410

What is “Dozin’ with the Dinos?”

Imagine roaming The Field Museum at night! The lights dim as you and your flashlight explore the rituals of ancient Egyptian culture. Next, you prowl an African savannah with giraffes, hippos, and man-eating lions. Before you know it, you’re rubbing elbows with royalty in the Palace in Bamum, Africa. By the end of the night, you are too tired to skin the fish that you and your Inuit friend have caught for breakfast. Bring your sleeping bag and explore one of the most exciting spots in town! Dozin’ with the Dinos is a unique opportunity for children ages 6-12 to spend the night at The Field Museum. Begin your evening with activities based upon a Field Museum exhibition. Afterwards, watch a performance, munch on a snack, and explore the Museum’s wondrous exhibitions, including Inside Ancient Egypt, by flashlight. Overnights begin at 5:45pm and end the following morning at 9am. No one will be admitted after 8pm.

How Much Does It Cost?
The Group rate for an Overnight program is $50 per person. The minimum size for a group is 15. You can register a smaller troop, or even an individual family, but the rate for that is $60 per person. A late evening snack and continental breakfast is included.

How do we register for a Group Overnight?
Download the registration form and Field Museum 2009 overnight "Toolkit". Each group must have an assigned Group Leader who will attend the event and serve as the liaison to the Museum before and during the event. The Group Leader must complete the registration form and be the contact person with the Museum throughout the planning process. We also ask that the Group Leader arrive on time the night of the Overnight to distribute information to the rest of their group.
The number of children and chaperones should not exceed 200 people (maximum 150 children with 50 chaperones). A minimum 1:3 ratio of chaperones to children is required for all groups, and all chaperones must be at least 21 years old.

Payment
A deposit of $100 will reserve your spaces for groups of up to 25. For groups of 25-100, please submit 25% of your total amount due to reserve your spaces. For groups of over 100, please submit 50% of your total amount due to reserve your spaces. Your deposit will be subtracted from the total registration fee for your group. The balance will be due four weeks before your scheduled Overnight. The exact due date will be listed on your confirmation letter. All deposits are non-refundable. Payments may be made by check, money
order, or credit card; please do not send cash. Please note: all registration forms must include credit card information; if we have not received your final balance payment by the due date indicated in your confirmation packet, that credit card will be charged your remaining balance amount.
