STEM Saturday: "Lights and Optics"

Saturday, October 25, 2008 - 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Vernon Hills Regional Service Center (The HUB) 650 N Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills, IL 60061


STEM Saturdays, is a program designed for Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors who wish to learn more about various fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Each STEM Saturday will focus on a different topic.

From computers, cell phones, and cameras, to DVD’s, CD’s, and contact lenses, everything uses optics. Join us for the day as you learn about light spectrums; play tricks on your eyes and mind with optical illusions; create your own tye-dye t-shirt using chromatography; learn about careers in optics; and make your own moving cartoon picture.

Cost: $10 per participant. (Girls need to bring their own white t-shirt and a lunch.), capacity 100 girls

Please Note:
A registered adult must accompany the girls during any of the STEM Saturday programs. Troops must follow Safety-Wise girl to adult ratio. Bring a own lunch. Girls will not be permitted to leave the premises.
