Please note on the Activities sheet, that several of our events NEED a co-chair...please volunteer, in ways big or small, to help the leaders who have volunteered thus far.  Participation from all of us make the Scouting experience that much better for all our girls. I don't have the time to call each of you and ask if you are willing, so please call me and we will find something to fit your availability and talents.  We NEED volunteers for:
* Daddy Daughter Dance - a co-chair and specific task volunteers, maybe a junior troop to run the popcorn machine and cotton candy machine - we have several such tasks!  Just call and volunteer!
* Winter Event - a co-chair

Thanks to you and your girls, Hawthorn will sponsor 26 holiday baskets for the Vernon Township this holiday season.  Mary Scudella will be forwarding additional details as she receives them.

The theme for the year's FriendShip Fair is The Olympics!!  Details will be available from Donna Callen at the November meeting.  We've moved it up so hopefully it will not conflict with all the other spring activities - so mark your calendars for Friday January 29.  You don't have to sponsor a booth to come join the fun!

This year's Brownie TryIt Workshop will be run by Troop 2849 and the TryIt will be Art To Wear!!  So Daisies and Brownies mark your calendar for Friday, March 19!

Fall product will be delivered to our Cluster Friday Nov 13 after 1:00.  Please call Madeline Powell or Chris Reinert to help sort product.  No product will be released until all is sorted.

The patches for early registration were distributed.  I still have patches for: troop 41290, troop 41479, troop 41574 and troop 42436.  Please let me know when you can pick them up, along with your Council Essentials Handbook.

New Leader Training is available with Vicki Repsholdt.  Please give her a call to participate 573-1195.  She has a huge amount of experience and information to share!

If you did not attend the VISTA meeting, you did not receive your new Volunteer Essentials Handbook OR new Council Training Calendar OR new Activity Insurance brochure OR the new Council Essentials Handbook.  We are limited to one per troop so far.  Please contact me to arrange pickup - I still have these for several troops.  Please note that the Program Resource Guide that was mailed to all registered Girls/Leaders contains info on the camp/training facilities.  New leaders can pick up their copy at their Council training session.

I also have tax letters (for tax free purchase of troop supplies) dated August 22, 2008, if you don't yet have one.

The contents of the VISTA 15/Cluster 63 storage locker can be found on the VISTA website:  http://www.ilcrossroads.org/vistas/15/resources/equipment/  We are researching options to retain the resources, flags and program boxes by negotiating a reduced rate with the facility and/or asking each troop to contribute no more than $10 for the year - more details to come.  Attached is information about accessing the locker.  If you need flags, reference materials, program boxes, etc, its all in the storage locker.

Highlights from the VISTA meeting (agenda and notes attached):
* We are hoping to reformat the VISTA portion of the meeting to be what YOU need, so we need your input.  Do you want sharing sessions, training sessions, what?  Let me know.
* If your troop of older girls is looking for a leadership activity, contact the Council to arrange for them to lead a STEM Saturday!
* Cookie materials will not be available until Nov 16 so we will NOT have Cookie training at the Nov meeting.  Plan for Cookie Parent training at our December meeting on TUESDAY Dec 15.
* Don't forget to contact Nina Ferolo to join the caroling portion of the Hawthorn Winter Botique!  816-0087  nferolo@comcast.net

Our next meeting is Monday, November 9.
See you then!
Valerie
