NEW COUNCIL PATCHES

New council patches are on the table for troops who took advantage of Spring Registration – Spring Registration Troops get the new council patches for FREE.

FINANCE

All troops are required to change the name on their bank accounts to reflect the new council name.  Banking procedures were handed out at the last VISTA Meeting.

NATIONAL CONVENTION

Jana D will be one of our GSGCNWI representatives at the Girl Scout National Convention.

An email with the proposals will be sent.  Please review and share your comments.

FALL PRODUCT SALE

Theme: Go Green: Observe and Conserve.

The Fall Magazine, Candy and Nut Sale will take place from October 10-26, 2008.

Our VISTA 15 Fall Product Community Partners are as follows:

Use your former troop numbers when registering (i.e., don’t add the 4 and extra 0’s at the beginning).

Don’t put any symbols when entering girl’s names – the system will freeze.

Everyone participating needs to be a registered Girl Scout. We will check.

You will receive an e-mail when access to the NUT-E site is available.

You can go online through the VISTA or council website to order QSP magazines.

Remember to keep your 15% troop profit.

Nut/Candy delivery will be on Friday 11/14 in the early evening at St. Mary of Vernon Church on Route 45.

Our VISTA has 976 members – 67% of our 2007-2008 total - that translates to 33% of our Girl Scouts are not covered by insurance.

STEM Saturdays is a program designed for Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors who wish to learn more about various fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Each STEM Saturday focuses on a different topic. Details are available on the Council website. Upcoming dates/topics:

"FIT TO BE ME!" SATURDAYS

Saturday 10/18/08 Module 1: Nutrition

Saturday 12/20/08 Module 2: Healthy Development, Self Esteem & Emotional Well Being.

Saturday 1/24/08 Module 3: Being Safe

Saturday 3/7/08 Module 4: Healthy Habits

Saturday 5/9/08 Module 5: Physical Fitness and Sports

10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Vernon Hills Regional Service Center.

Cost $10 per participant per module.

This is a program that explores being healthy: eating right, exercising, feeling good, enjoying life, and being supported by family and peers. Each girl will receive a patch at the end of every module. The five individual patches form one large set.

"MARY POPPINS" TICKETS

"Mary Poppins" is coming to the Cadillac Theatre in downtown Chicago.

Our VISTA has 220 tickets available

Tickets prices are: $25 for Upper Balcony, $43 for Mid Balcony, $56.50 for Loge (lower balcony) seats. There are 120 Upper Balcony seats, 50 of each mid and lower levels. The tickets will be first come first serve and I hope I can get rid of all of these but if not, I have to return any unsold tickets with the deposit money. Deposits cost is 25% of the ticket prices.

A deposit of approximately $7, $11, and $15 per ticket is due by tonight.
