Meeting Minutes:

Monday, April 14, 2008 - 7:00 p.m.

Townline School Cafeteria, Route 60 and Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills

Family Partnership: During Registration, please at least ask your parents to contribute if they are willing and able to contribute to Family Partnership.  Direct questions to Jill Hudson jhudson@ilcrossroads.org.

Registration: 2009 eCouncil is not open until May 1.  All troops who participate in Early Registration will be given a book on the new program materials "Transforming Leadership: Focus on Outcomes of the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience".  Encourage your troop parents to put their e-mail address on the registration forms.  This allows for limited contact from the council.

New Program Materials: The council is looking for a few volunteers to participate on a small task force to help plan the transition to the new program materials.  Contact Rosita Rice.  New materials will be rolled out beginning this fall.  We will be converting for the 2009-2010 school year.  If you are bridging up this summer, please save your books/materials for younger troops (so they don’t have to buy new stuff for 1 year only).

Realignment: The council merger is proceeding with a June 1 goal.  Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana Council.  Issues raised during the last session are being corrected and cleared up before June 1.  Lots of administrative issues to address: slate for the new board will be developed in April, new Bylaws must be developed and agreed upon, assets must be transferred to the surviving entity, a new CEO must be appointed, etc.  There will be about 5000 troops in the new council.

Events: Earth Day patches can be picked up from Nancy C.  The Book Collection was advertised VISTA-wide.  Spring Camporee is on target with 600 registered.  Girl Scout Night at Schaumburg Flyers is August 13.  STEM Saturdays are scheduled for April 19 and May 17, and the June 7 STEM Fair - see web site for details.
