Community Breakout Oct 10, 2006

Holiday Baskets - Call or e-mail Michelle for details.  Delivery will be by the troop on Dec. 11th and 12th.

Camporee was Awesome!!  Thanks to Eden and Jeanne and crew for an awesome Camporee!!  The theme was Back to Nature, Back to Basics.  All girls and adults learned much about how to camp.

We are in need of a Girl Membership partner (Organizer) for the Hawthorn community.  Barb cannot continue holding two positions on our Community cabinet.  Please talk to troop parents who may be willing to do this.  Someone who likes to talk to parents would be well suited.

Volunteers are needed to lead Caroling at Manor Care & Daisy/Brownie Try It (May 4th Aspen Cafe).  The time for caroling is approaching rapidly – this is a very simple event to coordinate, and the home director welcomes us back every year.  They will be very disappointed if we don’t go.  Older girls could also coordinate this as a team.

Jeanne has volunteered to coordinate Cookies for Troops – thank you!

The Back to School nights and Recruiting Event were very successful!  Thanks to Barb and Valerie and all the leaders who volunteered to staff the tables and answer questions.  Here are the latest stats on new scouts and troops:

67 new names:  12 new troops

7 kindergarten

2 First Grade

1 Second Grade

1 Third Grade

1 Fourth/Fifth

Jami gave a Public Relations update based on The HUB training session she participated in.  Please forward info on all your events for the year to her (any service project work, cookie site sales, large group activities, etc).  The HUB may follow up with you, and send a photographer to your event.  The more we get published in the local press, the more exposure we receive and the more girls we can introduce to Girl Scouting!

The council is looking for 2 teen volunteers per VISTA to participate in the By Girls, For Girls workshop on Oct 21, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, at The HUB.  Please see the Web site for additional details.

The Nov VISTA meeting, Nov 13, 7:00 p.m., Townline café, will start with an investiture ceremony for all new leaders – please plan to attend!  We’d like to welcome you all with an official Girl Scouting ceremony.  See you there!
