The Earth Day Groceries Project

Monday, April 14, 2008 -

VISTA Mtg. March 10th to Pick Up Bags

The Earth Day Groceries Project is a cost-free environmental awareness project where our Girl Scouts will decorate paper grocery bags with environmental messages for Earth Day. The Earth Day Groceries Project is one of the oldest and largest educational projects on the Internet.

Have your scouts decorate the bags with pictures of the earth, environmental messages, the name of your troop, etc. Be creative! DO NOT allow girls to write their last names on bags.

Blank bags will be distributed at the March 10 VISTA meeting, and the decorated bags will be collected at the April 14 VISTA meeting.  They will be delivered to the Jewel stores in Mundelein and Libertyville, which then distributes these bags (full of groceries) to happy and amazed shoppers on Earth Day.

Earth Day patches will be available for $1.00.  Please indicate on the sign-up sheet how many patches you will need and make checks payable to VISTA 15.
