 February 6, 2007 – VISTA Meeting Minutes
 
VISTA MEETING (New Info) – Kathy M
Ø       Event Survey’s were distributed at the start of the meeting. (Filled out and returned during the meeting)
o        These surveys will help the committee plan for next year – whether to keep events or make changes.
o        Calendar Planning sessions will be on Monday 2/26, Tuesday 2/27, and Thursday 3/8 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at State Bank of the Lakes.
Ø       Delegates 
o        The Corporate Meeting is on 2/24/07 in Wheeling. 
o        All volunteer delegates should have received a packet in the mail. If not see Kathy M.
Ø       Camp Postcards
o        All registered girls should have received these in the mail in the last couple of weeks. The IL  Crossroads Council has offered to pay any “out of council” fees.
 
RECRUITMENT – Chelle T
Ø       Adult Membership Drive – Survivor Theme
o        If each troop recruits at least one more adult to register as a Girl Scout volunteer – we will meet our goal for the year. The troop with the most recruitments (at the end of April) will win a Pizza Party or Ice Cream Social.
o        Turn in all adult registrations to your local Community Registrar.
 
REGISTRATIONS – Audrey S
Ø       We have added 94 girls for a total registration of 1327. Goal is 1656.
Ø       We have added 66 adults for a total registration of 544. Goal is 880.

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS – Starr
Ø       Check out the new box on the Web site “In the Spotlight”
o        They will be new things that the VISTA is highlighting. It will change often, so check it out.
Ø       Leader Resources – Our VISTA Resources
o        Includes great ideas for troops that are looking for something new to try or need a “jump
        start”. Includes many ceremony ideas of all sorts.
o        If you have any other ideas for her to add – please e-mail to her.
Ø       Girl Scout Adventures (new for February)
o        This includes trips/resources for Leaders.
 
AGE LEVEL NETWORKING IN MARCH – Kathy M
Ø       Bring samples of any thing that worked for your troop to help give ideas to other/new leaders. (i.e. Newsletters, Kaper Chart, activities, etc)

§         Tues 2/27 at Waukegan Vista Center from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p,m. - CPR only
o        CPR/First Aid by Red Cross (Free)
§         Sat 3/31 at Round Lake Beach Police from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
o        No Re-certifications are being offered for CPR due to the changes

Ø       Possible event – looking for interest in a Summer Olympics/Picnic Lunch on Sat 6/9
Ø       There was interest by some – but request a change in date due to conflict with National River Clean-up.

Ø       Flyers Distributed – Incl. 2 hrs skating, 1 hr games in shoes.
Ø       Event at Glacier Ice Area in Vernon Hills on Sunday 4/29 from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

SERVIce project – Dorrie G
Ø       Antioch Troop #2596 is requesting donations of old/used gym shoes (no shoes w/metal, cleats or sandals) to donate to Waste Management who will deliver them Nike to have them recycled into material used for gym floors and playgrounds, reducing our landfill.
 
Watercraft safety – Dorrie G
Ø       Offered by the Lake County Forest Preserve on 5/12 at Morrison from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Ø       Only for girls ages 12 and up
Ø       Cost is “free”. Includes Certification and patch
Ø       Flyer/Permission available on the Web site

DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE – Kathy M
Ø       Due to Inspection capacity changes, 60 people need to be switched from the 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. session to the 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. session.
o        Please let Kathy M if your troop (or any girls) are willing to switch
o        If there are not enough volunteers to switch, than third grade Brownie troops will be asked to switch.
o        Your troop will be notified of any changes.

Ø       Troop #654 will be collecting old jeans - any color to make quilts with messages written on them.  they will be sent to injured soldiers.
