Sail Away on Lake Michigan!
WHO: All registered Girl Scouts in Vista #14 - 5th grade and up
WHAT: Hands on activities and lectures on the maritime history, sailing, maritime arts,
navigation, seamanship, ropes, maritime heritage, physics of sailing, the life of a
Sailor among other topics. This will cover several of the requirements for Smooth
Sailing (Teen IPP) and the Small Craft (Junior) badges.
WHEN: Saturday, May 31, 2008
11a.m. – sharp!
NOTE: The ship will sail without you if you are late.
WHERE: Navy Pier – Chicago; Tall Ship Windy
(Located ½ way down the Pier, just past the Shakespeare Theater)

COST PER PERSON: $ 17.00 (includes patch and 1 ½ hr. cruise and lessons)
LEADER INFO:
v Permission slips mustbe turned in at the time of Registration.
v Medical cards must be on hand on the day of the activity.
v Please reference “Safety Wise” for adult - child ratio and Sailing Safety precautions.
v No flip-flops, open toed shoes, clogs etc.
v No electronics (headset, beepers etc.) – if brought on board you do so at your own risk
v Bring a jacket – it is always cooler on the water.
v All adults attending will be active on the ship along with the girls.
v There are plenty of eateries in the area. It is strongly recommended if you choose to eat in the area that you do so after the excursion on the water.
REGISTRATION: Due no later than April 1, 2008.
PAYMENT: Make Troop checks (no cash) payable to Vista #14.
