Thinking Day Ceremonies

Thinking Day is February 22, the birthday of both Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts, and his wife Lady Olave Baden-Powell, co-founder of Girl Guides with her husband.

Thinking Day presents an opportunity for Girl Scouts and Girl Guides to reflect on world peace and international friendship. Adults working with girls can help them understand that they belong to a worldwide organization of more than nine million women and girls called the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

On February 22, Girl Scouts and Girl Guides all over the world will be of one mind in their thoughts of peace and unity. Thinking Day ceremonies are reflective, but do not have to be solemn. Girls can relay their wishes for the future. Thinking Day is often called World Association Day, and the ceremonies frequently include giving invested Girl Scouts the WAGGGS pin.
