***********************************
The Food Drive is set for Saturday, November 3rd. As leaders you may choose how to run the food drive within your troop. You do NOT have to be together as a troop on November 3rd. This is only the date chosen that area pantries will be coming to pick the food up from the DROP off location on Red Oak in Gurnee. You can start your collections NOW!!!! Maybe collect during trick or treating hours. Collections do not have to start on November 3rd. On the website you can print little "notices" that your girls can pass out to neighbors when they will be collecting. Just appoint someone (leader, co-leader, parent) to drop off your troops collections by 1:30p.m. on 11/3. If you are unable to deliver on this date, contact Rachelle. I can arrange another date to meet or direct you to one of the pantries for drop off.
The food pantries are COUNTING on GIRL SCOUTS. We can make a difference but we all need to participate. The shelves are very low!!! Thanksgiving is a few weeks after this food drive, so hundreds of people will benefit. They’re are hundreds of people passing through the pantries weekly. These people do not have enough food in their homes. Please pass on to your troops how we all need to help our friends. There will be collection boxes placed at all the District 46 & 50 schools also. Spread the word...
Lets make this the best it can be, by everyone taking part in such an important event.
All the info is on the Website under Vista 13 events. Sign up will be 6:40 p.m. at the OCTOBER meeting and patch money is due on this date if you want patches. You may email and call if you want to sign up sooner or have questions.
P.L.A.N. (People Lending Assistance Network) a Food Pantry in Grayslake is desperate for Girl Scouts to help collect foods outside Garden Fresh/Walmart in Round Lake. They need food A.S.A.P.!!!! Please contact Rachelle for more info to get in touch with P.L.A.N. for some great Community Service.
Remember, this cannot be a success without each and everyone’s participation. Even if you each have every girl in the troop bring in 2 cans, think about how that adds up with 140+ troops.
No one deserves to go to bed hungry.
