Leader Meeting Minutes 1/14/10
 
Activity Kits – Deana has several activity kits available to earn patches for all age levels. The kits are complete with supplies to do the activity. Be sure to replenish the kits once you have used the supplies. 
 
Leader Party – RSVP by January 17th to Deana (phone) or Elise (email) if you are attending. Party is 7pm January 23rd at Pinsters Bowl at 1646 Sheridan Road in Zion. Vista will pick up the food tab. 
 
World Thinking Day – An email with more specifics will be sent out soon. WTD will be on February 13th at North Prairie Junior High in Winthrop Harbor. The theme is “Together we can end extreme poverty & hunger.” Most likely the times will be from Noon to 4pm (set up from noon -12:30, clean up from 3-4pm). An employee of the school district is needed to volunteer to supervise WTD or there will be a charge of $18.50 per hr for someone to supervise us. Please contact Tami (see her recent email) if you can help.
 
Vista Ambassador Meeting – If you would like to represent our Vista at this meeting (on January 26th in Niles, IL) contact Deana. 
 
Cookies    
·         Site sale location/dates were chosen. Contact Regina if you missed out.
·         Zion cookie pickup will be at North Point Church ( 900 N. Lewis Ave, Winthrop Harbor – corner of Lewis & 9th). We have requested the date of February 15th as our 1st choice & February 13th as 2nd choice. Watch for email for final date.
·         Waukegan/North Chicago pickup will be at the Great Lakes Community Center (2007 Virginia Ave. – Forrestal Village near Greenbay & Buckley). Requested date of February 15th
 
Chicago Sky Basketball – Visit the Chicago Sky website for more info about the June 5th & August 14th Girl Scout Nights. Tickets are $17 or $22 with $5 of each ticket being donated back to Girl Scouts. The girls are invited to a pregame party, fun activities throughout the game, or to actually help operate the game (take tickets, serve as ball girls, photograph the team and even write news stories for the Sky Web site).  
 
Adult Recognition Awards – Everyone likes a little recognition. Nominations can still be made for GSUSA awards for adults. Forms are online (see gsgcnwi website) and are due by the last business day in January. 
 
Leaders Conference – Leaders from all over the council are invited to Butternut Springs in Valparaiso, IN on January 30th. Sign up deadline is January 15th. See gsgcnwi website.
 
Family Partnership – Please be sure you are asking for Family Partnerships with every registration. This helps to keep Girls Scouts a non-profit organization.
 
GEICO Dashboard Road Safety Patch Program – This program is available to Cadettes, Seniors & Ambassadors. Kits can be checked out from council to teach the girls auto info like road safety, car maintenance, drinking & driving. 
 
Uniquely Me! Workshop – Learn about yourself and ways to keep your relationships healthy. This program is available to girls grades 6-12. $8/girl. February 21st from 1-3pm at the Promise Center - Joliet, IL. See gsgcnwi website calendar to register. 
 
Girls Scout Recruiting – You may be receiving emails soon with recruitment ideas. In our area, the number of registered girls is down for this year.
