Leader Meeting Minutes 11/12/09
 
December Leader Meeting – Cookie packets will be given out & site sale locations will be chosen. 
 
Fall Product – We are looking for someone to head up Fall Product for next year. 
 
Cookies – Regina Ingram is our cookie representative. 
·        Training available.
·        Volunteers are needed to come up with site sale locations, but DO NOT call the location.  Just let Regina know your ideas for locations & she will call.
·        We still need a location for Waukegan & North Chicago drop off spot. 
 
Uniforms – All new uniforms must have the new “40” added to the front of the troop #. 
 
Leader Meeting Dollar Raffle – Please keep bringing in items to auction off for our Leader Meeting Dollars.  You never know when Deana will have a raffle for us & we need good stuff to bid on!
 
World Thinking Day – A host troop is still needed to find a location & organize this event in February. Contact Elise if interested.
 
Tall Ships – Contact Michelle Fanning for your Tall Ships patches.
 
Halloween Party – Patches are not in yet
 
Girl Scout Shop Orders – If you want to order anything from the GS shop in Vernon Hills, tell the shop that Lillia (our Vista rep for Cluster 67) will bring them to the next leader meeting.  Please place orders by noon the day before the leader meeting.  Order must be paid for at the time of order is placed.  Shop phone is 847-573-0500 or email vernonhillsshop@girlscoutsgcnwi.org.  See email flyer. 
 
GS Newsletter – If you are not receiving the GS e-news letter, please go to www.girlscoutsgcnwi.organd move to “Be a Volunteer” on the left side of the screen.  It will pop up several options.  Select “Sign up for our newsletters” & follow the instructions.
 
Cadettes needed for Environmental Education Initiative – Girl Scouts is developing a pilot environmental education initiative to be integrated with our Journeys curriculum. The goal is to create a fun, meaningful, easy-to-implement series of activities that will help our girls - first at the Cadette level - become the next generation of environmental leaders.  Contact Gretchen Voskuhl @gvoskuhl@girlscoutsgcnwi.org
 
The Nutcracker Ballet – Cost per girl or adult is $27 (Joffrey Ballet Nutcracker patch included for registered Girl Scouts).  The performance is taking place at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E Congress Pkwy, Chicago, IL.  Shows:  December 13th at 2 – 5pm or December 18th at 7- 10pm.  Contact Natalie Henry-Passano at nhenry@girlscoutsgcnwi.org
 
Emergency Survival Skills Workshop for Juniors & Cadettes – Learn emergency survival skills, build a shelter, learn what to put into a winter car kit.  December 5th 10am – 3pm.  $10 for adults or girls. Camp Pokanoka, Ottawa, IL or Camp Morrison, Lake Villa, IL.  Register online. 
 
  
Cluster Survey – Service Units/VISTAs and Associations were formed into larger units, called clusters (ours is Cluster 67), to meet several times per year. MEGS Patch Program & Patch Design Contest – MEGS (Most Extraordinary Girl Scout) is designed to help achieve a balanced Girl Scout program throughout the year and to recognize those who achieve that goal. This program is open to all grade levels and is a troop and/or Girl Scout Juliette activity.  GS is holding a contest to ensure girls have the opportunity to design a MEGS patch.  All entries must be submitted by Dec. 18, 2009.  To submit entries, or if you have questions, contact Melissa Parker at  mparker@girlscoutsgcnwi.org
