  Group Camping

Each girl has her own interests, and when girls come together in a group, they make decisions as a group about their group activities.

  • Some girls will have no interests in outdoor pursuits
  • Other girls just cannot wait for the next outdoor activity

For girls with little outdoor experience or younger girls, start with activities in the most familiar outdoor environment before venturing far from home. The Girl Scout program is built on the concept of progression – acquiring the skills needed to progress to more difficult or highly skilled activities. As girls build their confidence and grow in maturity, progressive outdoor experiences can be planned farther away from home with added adventure and complexity, for longer stays.

Group camping activity can help meet the needs of today’s girls to:

  • Be accepted by the group and regarded with affection by others
  • Gain a sense of control over their activities by helping to plan them
  • Feel secure, free from physical, as well as social harm
  • Have new adventures – exciting and varied activities to test the limits of their skills
  • Achieve accomplishments
  • Enjoy recognition and approval – to stand out as individuals for the things they do well
  • Share and enjoy leisure-time with a positive role model
